At Home With Lisa-Vaccine Rules For Sellers

The question: Can a seller require prospective buyers to be fully vaccinated to view the sellers property?

Generally speaking, sellers may set parameters for individuals who enter their property, including requiring individuals to adhere to Covid precautions such as wearing a mask, social distancing, etc.  And sellers may require their agent to communicate them to cooperating brokers, such as in the showing instructions.

With that said, real estate professionals should advise the seller about fair housing laws which may require taking into consideration that accommodations must be made for individuals who do not meet Covid requirements, such as providing the means to do virtual showings.

What if you're the buyers agent?

To be compliant with any health and safety showing requirements, buyer agents should consider requesting their client and consumers to self certify the vaccination or health status by completing a questionnaire.
