Home sellers expecting the quickest sales may want to make sure the house is in tip-top shape and ready to sell because the big WEEK in the housing market is almost upon us. According to a new analysis from Realtor.com, the best WEEK to put a home on the market is March 31 to April 6, 2019. (Researchers analyzed the 50 largest real estate markets in the nation over the past 3 years to determine the best week to sell.)
So, if you list your home to sell during the week of March 31 to April 6, what can you expect according to this study? Well, on average you can list it for 6% more than at the beginning of the year, which equates to about an extra $17,000. Homes for sale that week also fetch about 14% more views on Realtor.com than at other times of the year. These homes tend to sell about 6 days quicker mainly due to less competition (the highest number of homes tend to go on sale later in the spring.)
