Lisa Longest 2 years ago

If you're in the process of buying or selling a home, you may wonder why the county assessment is different than the market and appraised value of the home.

Why is your home assessed at $200,000 through the county, but your real estate agent is telling you to list it for $175000?  You feel strongly that your home is worth every bit of the $200,000!

Or why are you looking at a home for $250,000, but it's assessed at $220,000?  Is it overpriced?

Or why is your home assessed for $245,000, your rea...

Most home searches begin online.  In fact, According to the National Association of Realtors 93% of home buyers visit websites when searching for homes.  The sellers begin calculating the sale price of their home by visiting Home Estimation Websites online.  While such sites may offer knowledge or facts on some properties, they are hardly accurate in determining home value.  In fact, there are numerous sites that you can visit where you can plug in your home address and a few facts abou...

"Coming Soon"A Coming Soon listing is a home...

Lisa Longest 3 years ago

When you buy or sell a home, you get used to hearing words you've never heard before.  Two rather vague but very important terms for buyer and seller alike are "earnest money deposit" and "down payment".  What's the difference?

Earnest money-also known as an escrow deposit- is a dollar amount buyers put into an escrow after the seller accepts their offer.  Buyers do this to show the seller that they're serious about buying the home.  Another way to think of earnest money is a "good faith" deposi...

As you are exploring your senior living options, you may have looked at what is referred to as an “active adult community.” These are 55 and over “age-restricted” or “age-qualified” communities, typically meaning that someone in the residence must be at least 55 years old.  Kent Island offers two 55+ communities that you should not pass up when considering "active Adult living".  Why?

Well, Kent Island is all about the Eastern Shore Lifestyle. Surrounded by water and abundant wildlife such as ne...

If you are a boater then an important factor you want to consider when looking at waterfront property is the mean low tide or mean low water (MLW) This is the average level of low tide. So, for a small to mid-size boat, I recommend looking for at least 3–4 ft. If you have a larger sailboat you may require more. If you only plan on using a small kayaks or rafts the 1–3 ft may be all you need.

If you are looking to buy a waterfront home, it's very important to get this information if you plan on b...
